Incoming Student Mobility
Z_GIS is responsible for Geoinformatics and GIScience throughout all three academic qualification levels at University of Salzburg study programmes. The sequence from a Geography bachelor, through an Applied Geoinformatics MSc towards a GIScience PhD used to be the traditional pathway of progressive academic qualifications. Increasingly, general student mobility and an upsurge in students transferring from other locations and disciplines are leading to more flexibility at the “interfaces” between the three Bologna levels. English is the standard language of instruction on graduate levels, with only the Bachelor in Geography being taught mostly in German.
Student mobility typically is organized within the framework of international programmes, like Erasmus, CEEPUS or Tempus. Additional mobility opportunities are facilitated by university partnership agreements.

|Complete undergraduate qualification in a relevant spatial discipline or at least two years of studies in excellent academic standing||Primarily for students currently preparing an MSc or PhD thesis|

Incoming Student 2012 (CEEPUS programme)
"Getting the possibility of spending one month in Salzburg through the CEEPUS programme, was one of the greatest experiences in my student life. I had the chance to work with researchers from Z_GIS within a common OBIA project (improving the ‘Estimation of Scale Parameter’ tool) and could at the same time develop my own ideas and work on my master thesis. The research carried out at Z_GIS yielded excellent results, and this opportunity has opened new horizons for my future research, collaboration network and career."
